Countdown to Death Magnetic.....

To celebrate the release of "Death Magnetic" Metallica will be visiting one of Lars' favorite record stores, GUF in Copenhagen, Denmark. Located near the Townhall Square at Vestergade 17, GUF will be open at 11pm to start selling Death Magnetic one hour before anyone else in continental Europe!

Metallica will arrive at GUF tonight around 11:30 and will be signing copies of Death Magnetic! They will spend 90 mins in GUF before going to Berlin for Fridays concert in O2 World.

Death Magnetic On Sale 10/09/08

According to various online reports (including fan accounts on METALLICA's official message board), several UK retailers including HMV and Zavvi have begun selling METALLICA's new album, "Death Magnetic", ahead of its September 12 official worldwide release date presumably in response to the fact that the album was leaked in its entirety last week. HMV, which currently owns over 50% of the music retail market in the UK, reportedly has the CD on sale for £8.99

Monday, September 15 - FIVE hours of special coverage on Radio 1 including interviews with the guys and a broadcast of the show from the night before.

And of course it's the night of the second "Death Magnetic" release party at the 02 Arena. Unfortunately, this show is now sold out.

Tuesday, September 16 - The band visits "Later with Jools Holland" and there is a live 'taster' show that night on BBC2 from 10-10:30pm with the band playing one track. The full hour long show goes out on Friday, September 19 on BBC2 11:30pm, followed by a repeat of the Metallica "Culture Show" special.

Metallica Exclusive Intimate Show BBC Radio 1

Metallica will play an exclusive intimate show for BBC Radio 1 on Sunday, September 14.....
Want to be there?

The show, which will be held at the BBC Radio Theatre, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1 the following day Monday, September 15 at 9:00 p.m. (GMT).

Tickets will be given away randomly to fans who apply through the BBC Radio 1 web site. Registration opens at 7:30pm on September 2 and closes on September 5 at 7:30pm.

Lars on The Woody Show about....

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has commented on the premature release of the band's new album, "Death Magnetic", via a French record store. A shop in Paris reportedly sold a number of copies of the CD this morning well ahead of its official September 12 worldwide release date — with illegal "Death Magnetic" MP3 files making their way online by this afternoon.

During a guest appearance on "The Woody Show" on the San Francisco, California radio station Live 105 (KITS 105.3 FM), Ulrich stated about the French leak, "Listen, we're ten days from release. I mean, from here, we're golden. If this thing leaks all over the world today or tomorrow, happy days. Happy days. Trust me. Ten days out and it hasn't quote-unquote fallen off the truck yet? Everybody's happy. It's 2008 and it's part of how it is these days, so it's fine. We're happy."

The Day That Never Comes . . . The Film Première

Here is a short film called "The Day That Never Comes" directed by acclaimed film director and fellow country man of Lars Ulrich, Thomas Vinterberg. Metallica said "our goal with this song was to step outside of the usual every day music video box and into to the world of film". It was shot outside of Los Angeles a month ago.

METALLICA's James Hetfield joined NWOBHM legends SWEET SAVAGE

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield joined reactivated NWOBHM legends SWEET SAVAGE (based in Belfast, Northern Ireland) on stage at their August 20, 2008 concert at Marlay Park in Dublin, Ireland (where they supported METALLICA) for a rendition of the SWEET SAVAGE classic "Killing Time".
METALLICA recorded a cover of "Killing Time" (co-written by guitarist
Vivian Campbell, a former member of SWEET SAVAGE), which was included as the B-side to METALLICA's "The Unforgiven" single.

Berlin and London Death Magnetic Celebrations

To Celebrate the release of "Death Magnetic" Metallica have not one, but two celebrations with the Fan Club and Mission Metallica planned for September 12 in Berlin, Germany, and September 15 in London, England.

Tickets will only be available to registered Met Club and Mission Metallica members through special sales for each group.
The Fan Club sale begins on Monday, September 1 at 9:00 AM local time.
Mission: Metallica Platinum members will be able to purchase tickets starting on Tuesday, September 2, also at 9:00 AM local time.
Finally, those of you registered for the free portion of Mission may purchase tickets starting on Wednesday, September 3 at 9:00 AM should tickets still be available.

You must have an individual code to purchase tickets and you may obtain those codes by visiting your profile page on the respective sites. Codes and more specifics will be available on each site later this week. Please note that passcodes are not transferable and are only good for the person they were issued to. Your personal ticket code may be used to purchase tickets for both shows, however you may not purchase more than two tickets per person per show. Tickets will only be available online and you may only obtain your tickets at the venue day of show by presenting your photo I.D. In London you must also present the credit card used to make the ticket purchase.
Tickets prices are only €10 for Berlin, and £5 for London!

All the ticket proceeds from the Berlin show will be donated to The Deutsche Herzzentrum Berlin (DHZB) medical centers for heart treatment, more specifically for "Ein Herz fur Kinder" (a heart for children), which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

Ticket proceeds from the London show will be donated to Youth Music, the UK's largest children's music charity, set up in 1999 to promote and support music making opportunities for children, including some of the UK's most disadvantaged young people. They work alongside the formal and community-based sectors to support music-making and training.

The UK première play Of Metallica's new single 'The Day That Never Comes' will be this Thursday night (21st August) on BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe show.

Metallica on Tour

Metallica have announced two special shows, September 12 in Berlin and September 15 in London, to celebrate the release of Death Magnetic. The tickets will only be available to registered members of the Fan Club and Mission Metallica.

(Not sure if thats a "both" or "either")

Tickets prices will be €10 for Berlin, £5 for London! all the proceeds from the sale of tickets will be donated to local charities. There will be a two ticket limit per member, and you will only be able to pick up your tickets at the box office on the day of the show.
